Erick the Architect - I've Never Been Here Before
Get Vinyl: White
Erick the Architect, the founding member and main producer of Brooklyn rap group Flatbush Zombies, is preparing his highly anticipated debut album I’ve Never Been Here Before. The record features some exciting collaborators: James Blake (who produced four tracks), Joey Bada$$, Westside Boogie, George Clinton, Channel Tres, and Kimbra to name a few.
Erika de Casier - Still
Get Vinyl: Clear | Black
The 33-year-old Danish singer, songwriter and producer Erika de Casier returns with third album Still. Erika has blessed us with the rare mid-week album drop so you can listen in its entirety right now.
I’ll highlight first single “Lucky,” which sounds like a liquid drum and bass remix of Christopher Cross’ “Sailing.” Pure auditory ASMR.
Glitterer - Rationale
Get Vinyl: Orange | Black
Ned Russin, formerly co-lead of Title Fight until their pause in 2018, embarked on a new journey with Glitterer. Now a full-fledged band, Glitterer returns with Rationale, a fusion of '90s grunge and fuzzed-out noise pop. The first three singles pack a punch; if I had one gripe, it would be for these songs to be twice as long.
Hurray for the Riff Raff - The Past Is Still Alive
Get Vinyl: Glow in the Dark | Orange
The Past Is Still Alive, Alynda Segarra's ninth Hurray for the Riff Raff album, was conceived just a month after their father's passing. This album navigates Segarra's journey of loss, reflecting on the passage of time and those left behind. With tracks rooted in personal grief, it offers a first-person narrative that delves into Segarra's childhood memories, early adult challenges, and the wisdom gained over time.
Laetitia Sadier - Rooting For Love
Get Vinyl: Red | Black
Stereolab singer and co-writer Laetitia Sadier returns with Rooting for Love, her first solo album in seven years. Early reviews say the ethereal soundscapes are a perfect extension of the Stereolab universe.
Mary Timony - Untame the Tiger
Get Vinyl: Neon Pink | Black
From Laetitia Sadier to Mary Timony, we’re in a 90’s nostalgia haze this week gang. The former member of Helium, Autoclave, and Wild Flag, who was ranked #95 in Rolling Stone’s 250 Greatest Guitarists of All-Time, is back with her first solo album in over 15 years.
Miles Davis - Sorcerer
Get Vinyl: Crystal Clear
The third of six albums recorded by the Miles Davis Quintet (Wayne Shorter on sax, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass, Tony Williams on drums) gets a Music on Vinyl remaster, limited to 2500 numbered copies on crystal clear audiophile vinyl.
MGMT - Loss of Life
Get Vinyl: Prismatic Splatter | Blue Jay | Opaque Pink | Black
I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much, but the four singles off MGMT’s Loss of Life suggest it could be a classic. In particular, “Mother Nature” sounds like the best parts of MGMT’s discography rolled into one, and landed #21 on our 50 Catchiest Songs of 2023 list.
Post Malone - The Diamond Collection
Get Vinyl: Metallic Silver
Fun fact: Post Malone holds the record for most RIAA Diamond-certified singles in history. Merely mentioning titles like “Congratulations,” “Sunflower,” and “White Iverson” is enough to have their catchy choruses play on loop in your head. All these and more are included in The Diamond Collection, his victory lap engraved into double metallic silver wax. I don’t have any Posty in my collection so I may be hopping on this one.
Real Estate - Daniel
Get Vinyl: Silver | Light Blue | Black
Indie stalwarts Real Estate knocked out 11 songs in a nine day span, guided by the talents of songwriter and producer Daniel Tashian, known for his work on Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour. The album, potentially named in Tashian's honor, reflects Real Estate’s ambition to channel the essence of R.E.M.’s Automatic for the People. Lead single “Water Underground” takes that ‘90’s essence to a new level with the delightful Adventures of Pete and Pete-inspired music video.
The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing
Get Vinyl: Black
TV on the Radio - Dear Science
Get Vinyl: White
Dear Science, my favorite TV on the Radio album, is back on vinyl and a no-brainer for your record collection. This dance party for the end of the world combines art rock, post-punk, Afrobeat, and soul for a rich experience worth revisiting over and over.
