Ariana Grande - Eternal Sunshine

Ariana Grande, one of the most-streamed artists of all time, returns with seventh album Eternal Sunshine, her first since 2020’s Positions. The vinyl roll-out featured multiple alternate album covers, each containing a ruby red vinyl. Grande will be this week’s musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band - BRSB

Get Vinyl: Red and Yellow Smoke | Blood & Oil | Black

If you watched this year’s Best Picture nominee Anatomy of a Fall, you’re familiar with Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band and their Caribbean steel drum cover of 50 Cent’s “P.I.M.P.,” which is played frequently throughout the movie.

It may be my most listened to song of the year thus far, and hopefully that doesn’t mean my wife is planning something nefarious.

Anyhoo, Bacao is back with a fourth album of brilliant covers including The Game & 50 Cent’s “How We Do,” Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg’s “Nuthin But A G Thang,” Tupac’s “Got My Mind Made Up,” Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” Mura Masa & A$AP Rocky’s “Love$ick,” and unexpectedly, the Stranger Things theme song.

Bleachers - Bleachers

Get Vinyl: Clear | Red

Jack Antonoff and company are back with their fourth album, and first under the Dirty Hit umbrella.

Whenever I think of Jack Antonoff, this funny video comes to mind, where a kid goes song by song on Midnights and instantly detects if Antonoff worked on the track due to a passionate hatred of his production style.

Bruno Mars - Three Album Reissues

Get Vinyl: Doo-Wops & Hooligans | Unorthodox Jukebox | 24K Magic

All Bruno Mars albums are getting a gorgeous splatter vinyl treatment courtesy of Amazon. Silk Sonic got a splatter reissue last month.

Discovery Zone - Quantum Web

Get Vinyl: Black

Discovery Zone was one of my favorite places to go as a kid; there were elaborate mazes with slides, swings, and ball pits, and I’d run around pretending I was on Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Today, Discovery Zone is the experimental pop project of Berlin-based musician JJ Weihl. Quantum Web is her second album, and the singles are mellow and dreamy.

Forgive Durden - Wonderland

Get Vinyl: Six Variants at label Near Mint

Your esteemed curator was a little emo kid in high school who had this debut album from Seattle’s Forgive Durden on repeat. I had completely forgotten about this band until I stumbled upon this listing; it’s finally available on vinyl for the first time and it’s the grail I never knew I needed.

Kelsea Ballerini - Rolling Up the Welcome Mat

Get Vinyl: 7 AM Smoky Sunrise

Last year’s Grammy-nominated Best County Album, Kelsea Ballerini’s Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, gets a beautiful split colored vinyl reissue. The record is an intense and intimate examination of Ballerini’s divorce from fellow country singer Morgan Evans.

Kim Gordon - The Collective

Get Vinyl: Coke Bottle Clear | Black

Sonic Youth co-founder Kim Gordon returns with second solo album The Collective, released by Matador. My anticipation is sky-high based on the early singles, which are way more trap heavy than expected. Take “BYE BYE” for example, produced by Justin Raisen (Lil Yachty, Sky Ferreira), who made the beat for Playboi Carti, and found it too weird for Carti, but “cool for Kim.”

Gordon effortlessly merges with Raisen’s foreboding, blown out pulses, delivering a stream-of-consciousness that brings a fresh edge and an unexpected swagger, particularly remarkable for someone at the age of 70. Gordon captures the zeitgeist, as she reflects on the album's essence:

“On this record, I wanted to express the absolute craziness I feel around me right now. This is a moment when nobody really knows what truth is, when facts don’t necessarily sway people, when everyone has their own side, creating a general sense of paranoia. To soothe, to dream, escape with drugs, TV shows, shopping, the internet, everything is easy, smooth, convenient, branded. It made me want to disrupt, to follow something unknown, maybe even to fail.”

Meatbodies - Flora Ocean Tiger Bloom

Get Vinyl: Clear | Black

The Los Angeles-based psychedelic rock band Meatbodies is set to captivate listeners with their new album, Flora Ocean Tiger Bloom, promising a melodious and hook-laden rock epic.

First single “Hole” evokes nostalgia for the Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream-era, even employing similar chord progressions to the iconic track "Rocket."

Norah Jones - Visions

Get Vinyl: Teal | Orange | Black

Norah Jones, who has sold over 50 million records worldwide, blesses us with her ninth album Visions, released by Blue Note. The album is produced by the great Leon Michels (of The Dap Kings fame), and Norah handles everything else: vocals, bass, electric guitar, keyboard, and piano.

Nothing - Guilty of Everything (10th Anniversary)

Get Vinyl: Metallic Silver

Guilty of Everything is the excellent debut album by Philly post-shoegaze band Nothing, recorded and produced by Jeff Zeigler (Kurt Vile, War On Drugs). The album turns ten this year and celebrates with a limited, one-time deluxe pressing featuring a new album cover and an additional 7-inch containing two covers: Big Star’s “Holocaust” and Concrete Blonde’s “Joey.” This album fucking rips, and if you don’t mind, I’m going to listen to it right now. Byeeee!
