Brittany Davis - Image Issues
Get Vinyl: Pink and Black
Seattle musician Brittany Davis, best known as a member of Painted Shield alongside Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard, is poised to unveil their debut solo album, Image Issues, this Friday under Gossard's Loosegroove Records label.
Despite their blindness, Davis, who identifies as non-binary, has crafted a 26-track concept album that aims to be an immersive "audio movie" experience. They invite listeners to engage with the album in a manner akin to Davis’ own perception of movies, fostering a unique and multi-sensory journey through sound.
Everything Everything - Mountainhead
Get Vinyl: Pleasant Land Green | Black
Manchester’s avant-garde indie rock outfit Everything Everything returns with upcoming seventh album Mountainhead; this too is an ambitious concept album, where humanity has sculpted a colossal mountain by excavating a vast pit at its base, all in pursuit of reaching a mirror perched at the summit, all while trying to evade a gigantic golden serpent that dwells in the abyss below. Whew. You see, it’s a metaphor for late-stage capitalism, and I’m guessing it doesn’t have a happy ending.
Faye Webster - Underdressed at the Symphony
Get Vinyl: Blue & White Bullseye | Faye Blue | Chandelier Silver
Here’s the album I’m most stoked for this week, Faye Webster’s fifth album Underdressed at the Symphony. I’ve worn out the single “Lego Ring” featuring Faye’s childhood friend Lil Yachty.
Faye’s first vinyl pressings tend to go fast, so snag your favorite variant of this one before it skyrockets in price.
KRS-One - Return Of The Boom Bap (30th Anniversary)
Get Vinyl: Blue and Orange Swirl
“Woop-woop, that's the sound of da police / Woop-woop, that's the sound of da beast”
Liam Gallagher & John Squire - Liam Gallagher & John Squire
Get Vinyl: Zoetrope | Orange | Black
We head back to Manchester, where two of its heroes, Liam Gallagher and John Squire, are preparing their first collaborative album. The genesis of this partnership was sparked in 2022 during a landmark performance at Knebworth, where Gallagher extended an invitation to Squire to share the stage. This paved the way for a shared aspiration to create an album together. Early buzz from critics across the pond is painting this project as potentially the most impactful work either the Oasis frontman or the Stone Roses' guitarist have produced in years.
Jahari Massamba Unit - YHWH is LOVE
Get Vinyl: Black
Esteemed producer Madlib and versatile drummer Karriem Riggins team up once again as Jahari Massamba Unit to release their second collaborative project. New album YHWH is LOVE blends hip-hop and beat tape essences with jazz, showcasing their unique fusion of styles and musical wizardry.
Mannequin Pussy - I Got Heaven
Get Vinyl: Pink Glass | Clear with Black Smoke | Black
The Philly band who’s name is hated by the algorithm drops their fourth album and their first since 2019 breakout hit Patience. With the addition of new guitarist Maxine Steen, the group's writing process has been revitalized. Steen's substantial contribution of the title track as a demo laid the groundwork, which was then enriched by the collective input of the band. The track serves as a compelling opener, setting high expectations for the rest of the album.
Pissed Jeans - Half Divorced
Get Vinyl: Spotify Green
Pennsylvanian punks Pissed Jeans revs up with their sixth album, Half Divorced, under the Sub Pop label. Fronted by Matt Korvette, whose name is as quintessentially rock as it gets, you can expect a potent mix of hardcore energy, complemented by Korvette's signature scowl and biting dark humor.
Sheer Mag - Playing Favorites
Get Vinyl: Wax Drip | Black
Philadelphia's rock-n-roll four-piece Sheer Mag embarks on a new chapter by aligning with Jack White's Third Man Records, showcasing their first release since 2019 and marking their inaugural venture with a record label. This partnership promises to deliver an array of power-pop anthems, each bursting with massive hooks, hopefully signaling a bold step forward for the band.
STRFKR - Parallel Realms
Get Vinyl: Kelly Green, Cobalt Blue Cornetto, Pink Splatter | Violet & Cobalt Blue
In their eighth album, STRFKR embarks on their most accessible journey yet, blending '80s synth-pop euphoria with massive rhythm sections and crystalline hooks for a sound that's polished and expansive. The decision to let Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) take over mixing duties marks a new level of collaboration and innovation, resulting in what may be the band's most cohesive and dynamic work to date.
Thundercat - Apocalypse (10th Anniversary)
Get Vinyl: Translucent Red
Thundercat, the multi-GRAMMY award-winning bassist and singer, commemorates a decade since the release of his Flying Lotus-produced record Apocalypse with a deluxe special release, pressed on red wax, with a new rainbow holographic skull artwork.
Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes (40th Anniversary)
Get Vinyl: Black
Violent Femmes' self-titled debut celebrates 40 years with a three 180-gram LP set featuring the remastered album, plus B-sides, live sessions, and rare demos, plus a replica 7" single and a book along with new liner notes by journalist David Fricke and interviews with the band.
Yard Act - Where's My Utopia?
Get Vinyl: Pinwheel White with Orange and Black Splatter | Maroon (Signed Cover) | Black
Hot on the heels of their 2022 UK number one album The Overload, the pride of Leeds, Yard Act, announces Where’s My Utopia?. This eagerly awaited follow-up, a collaboration with Gorillaz's Remi Kabaka Jr., is already earning praise for its dance-heavy, charismatic vibe that embraces experimentation and avoids the sophomore slump.

Faye!!!! 💙💙💙
So many releases here that I am excited about. Yes, Mannequin Pussy, as Thea mentions, but so many others. I might be most excited about Yard Act -- the couple of songs I've heard so far have been great. Also STRFKR, who I've really liked most of their releases (especially their early stuff). Faye Webster and Sheer Mag also high on the list. Everything Everything else looks great as well!
