The Chameleons are a fantastic band. I've been a fan since their debut album. I have Pandora and the algorithm constantly surprises me with "new" bands with songs from a decade or so ago, such as Twin Tribes, Drab Majesty, Beach Vacation or Washed Out. But I love the discovery even if I'm late to the party.
A few years ago I was record shopping and had Washed Out's 'Within and Without' on my pile as I flipped through the crates. The guy across from me took one look, pointed to the record and solemnly told me "that's the best f'ing record you're gonna get today." And you know? He was right...
Probably like yourself, I think of myself as being pretty knowledgeable about a wide swath of music and I've literally never heard of any of this! Thx for sharing, all of these sound interesting

At the dawn of US commercial “alternative” radio, I was on a hopeless mission to make The Chameleons a household name. Can’t blame a guy for trying. Their 1986 double LP ‘Strange Times’ is a masterpiece of a different flavor.

Yes! Some good ones on here. Script of the Bridge is a great album. Was lucky enough to see Burgess play many tunes from it in a packed Brooklyn, NY club several years ago (https://bigtakeover.com/concerts/ChameleonsVoxwithTheatreofHateandJayAstonSaintVitusBrooklynNovember92019)

Pretty sure it's a law that The Chameleons' "Up the Down Escalator" can only be played at full blast.
Great to see The Chameleons getting a shout. A superb album I was a fan of the band from the very first vocal sample on Side 1.
