Love Nu Genea so much!! They’re fun live, too. Had a huge band with them! Have you checked out the Napoli Segreta compilations from their label? So incredible.

Jared Smith's avatar

No I haven't, that's going to the top of the pile, thanks!

Love this. Saw the Shakes last night. Incredible and back in form.

So excited, catching them in St Augustine next month! Did they have an opener?

It was a festival so not sure if the artist was touring w them. Steph Strings?

Wow! 100 albums already! I'm curious as to how many times you listen to an album before you put it on your leaderboard. Each year I struggle with getting at least 10 that I can truly say were the albums that produced the most songs I'd listen to regularly.

Once I listen and if I enjoy it, I put it in the leaderboard, and I'm constantly tinkering the order all year in a pointless exercise upon relistens. I would say the top 25-30 get the most scrutiny from me, especially around Best Of season.

That makes sense. That end of year scrutiny is always stressful! I tend to focus more on songs than albums mostly because there aren't enough albums I regularly listen to in full in a year's time. I've definitely got several albums already that will likely make my Top Ten this year though.

I'm actually spinning my Lily Seabird and Alabama Shakes records on my radio show this Saturday morning! You've given me so many good recommendations that have made the way to the airwaves and I try to shout you out when I can! You should tune in on the WDRT app. 10am-noon live, or on the archive. Driftless Weekend show. Keep up the great work!

I'd love that, is that Eastern time? I'll be on a long drive then so that'd be perfect.

Purpnuggz's avatar

Central time so it will be 9-11 AM eastern if I'm doing my math right.

We're a local community radio station out of Viroqua Wisconsin.

I'd certainly appreciate a listen and have a safe drive!

Jared Smith's avatar

I'll be there!

“Destination Heaven” a collaboration between Euphoria Again and Dogwood Tales is a masterpiece in my opinion. The latest from Dogwood Tales released at the end of August is fantastic also.

Been loving the Nu Genea album since it came out. A lot of other new ones in here for, excited to check 'em out!

So nice to find a new albums list with some warm, heartfelt write ups - ie. Not just an eye-catching image carousel

Wow Nu Genea is great, thanks for the rec! It's very cool to see María José Llergo stretch into other genres knowing what her own music sounds like

I'm into the Idle County album.

Agreed on Georgia Nott — beautiful stuff. She has a lovely voice and i like the woozy, reverb-soaked vibe. Her voice reminds me a bit of Weyes Blood’s — not so much in the song you posted here, but in a few others, like Fish Bird Baby Boy (yes, I just went down a pleasant YouTube rabbit hole after listening to the song you posted :-).

Of course, she has her own thing going on. Cool stuff!

Dayum! Love the sound Bondo is getting in that room. I mean, credit to the players, of course, but kudos to the recording engineer(s), too.

Chanel Beads are great. Check out this epic improv session Shane Lavers did with two members of YHWH Nailgun, who record as Peace Through Strength! https://open.spotify.com/track/627NlyLBEyASTOfooxApRC?si=0f030c9f7c2746bd
